In 1951, one year after the Korean war broke out, the temporary capital of Korea moved into Busan and its legislative activity was being held in temporary Parliament, A bill that would exclude KMD from medical service System was submitted to the National Board of Health and Social care, Then, a wide movement arose among leading KMDs; Lee Woo-Ryong, Yoon Moo-Sang, Woo Gil-Ryong, Kwon Eui-Soo, Jeong Won-Hui and students of the Busan School of Oriental Medicine made enormous efforts to legitimate Korean medicine and so appealed to Community Health Council. As a result of such efforts, National Medical Services Law, which is now the legal basis of KMD licensing system, was promulgated on September 25th, 1951. BUSANKOM's Inaugural Meeting was hosted this day, commemorating the legislation of KMD system.
Now BUSANKOM is a non-profit corporation that manages and offers Member information of 1680 KMDs in Busan, Korean medical institutions, and also provides academic information on Korean Medicine.
